Susan Wong Lim is a pianist, teacher, and administrator. Over the past several decades, she has actively helped to shape both music education and the performing arts community in British Columbia. Her students have won provincial Gold Medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music and First Place at the Canadian Music Competition National Finals. She is an RCM Certified Teacher in Piano and the Principal of Jean Lyons School of Music in Vancouver.
Growing up in Vancouver, Susan studied piano with Jean Lyons and Audrey Johannesen. At the Shawnigan Summer School of the Arts, she played in the masterclasses of Eduardo del Pueyo, Anton Kuerti, John Kozar and Katarina Wolpe. She earned her BMus in Piano Performance from UBC under the instruction of Robert Silverman. As a member of the Vancouver Piano Ensemble, she has performed in Canada, Asia and Europe.
For many years, Susan served on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Recital Society and sat on the BC Regional Council of the Canadian Music Centre. She currently serves as a Director on the Boards of the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals Society and the Morningside Music Bridge Foundation. She also continues to nurture local talent as the longtime Concert Chair of the Vancouver Westcoast Music Society, of which she is an honorary life member.
