Susan Ouyang

Canada

Susan Ouyang began her music studies at the age of six in Regina, Saskatchewan. Under the guidance of Janice Elliott-Denike, she was a winner at the 1994 Canadian Music Competition in Vancouver, BC, and made her concert debut at age 16 with the Regina Symphony Orchestra. 

 

Susan continued her studies at the University of British Columbia on full scholarship, where she completed both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance under the

guidance of Lee Kum-Sing. During this time, she performed at Vancouver’s Orpheum and Playhouse theatres, and won awards at the Pacific Piano Competition and the Friends of Chamber Music Competition. Susan also participated in prestigious summer programs at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Orford Musique in Quebec, and the International Master Course for Pianists in Poland, performing in masterclasses for renowned artists including Menahem Pressler, Marc Durand, Andre Laplante, and Janina Fialkowska.

 

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Susan is a dedicated educator who works with students of all ages and levels. Her students have received top honours in festivals and competitions, achieved outstanding exam results, and pursued successful musical paths. Susan is passionate about nurturing artistry, confidence, and musical excellence in every student she teaches.
